This was another great week. We are going to be throwing a wedding for Elizabeth and Yamil in the next 2 weeks...I think we might push their baptismal date till the 23rd just not to have so many things on top of the other. We`ve been pretty busy here in the sector, lots of investigators who are progressing a lot. Apart of Elizabeth and Yamil, Marco and Joaquin are great. 2 youth that moved in from another ward, investigators, have a date for the 23rd as well. Came to church this week. We were able to teach a family from Ecaudor that we`ve been working with, and MAN it was such an awesome lesson! The dad of the family was raised in another Christian church, and is pretty firm in what he believes. He doesn`t want to "betray" his family by changing religions. But his wife (girlfriend of 6 years...they have a kid, not married but he calls her his wife) says that`s she`s received her answer and wants to be baptized. Their 8 year old daughter will most likely follow her parents. His mother in law, mom of his girlfriend, is also starting to seem a lot more receptive to the message. We were able to really just boldy testify of the truthfulness of The Restoration, and The Spirit helped carry the message to heir hearts. We were surprised when the dad offered to say the closing prayer, and I was even more surprised when The Spirit was really apparent in the sincere and heartfelt prayer he gave. It was awesome. The Spirit is accompanying us here in the work!! Marjori and Luis keep progressing, we have a cita with them tomorrow so we`ll see how it goes.
President has asked that we all study personal revelation this change, and so here`s some quick thoughts that I`ve realized through studies.
-Joseph Smith said that The Spirit is a revelator, and that no man can receive the Holy Ghost without receiving revelations. I guess that would mean that the fruits of the Spirit, which are mentioned in Galatians 5 (love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance) are also the fruits of revelation. They are experienced in the same way. Thinking upon my own experiences of Personal Revelation, I have realized that it is super true. Hence D&C 6 when The Lord teaches all of us about the doctrine of personal revelation, He says to Oliver, "Did I not speak peace to your mind concerning the matter? What greater witness can you have than from God?"
-The rock mentioned in Matt 16, Helaman 5, Jacob 4, and any other place is personal revelation. Personal Revelation also includes our understanding of our relationship to both The Son and The Father. The whole purpose of any revelation, or really of any good thing worth doing, is to strengthen our testimony and relationship with them. Comparing John 17:3 with Moses 1:39. Nephi`s strong relationship to his earthly father, Lehi, gave him strength and confidence to do as he was told. The experiences he had, in the business of his father (type of Christ), ultimately are the experiences that also helped him become LIKE his father, knowing, seeing, and believing the things which his father knew, saw, and believed.
That's all for today! The sun is coming back out!!
Love you!!
